Restoring 50 Year Old Abandoned Honda Motorcycle
I bought this in the hopes it would be a simple fix and I could be on the road having fun.. but before I knew I had the motor out and it was stripped down frame. I guess thats how it happens.
The bike is a 1977 Honda XL175, one of the earlier models of XL and from what I have seen the 175's are a little on the rare side compared to the more common XL100.
I had a lot of fun taking this bike apart and trying my best to fix it up to some of its former glory.
Hope you enjoy the video!

In this video we look at the KTM 890 Adventure R and explore why it is probably the most capable off road adventure bike on the market. But with that title comes some pesky issues that could be a deal breaker for a lot of people. Let me know what you think, would you still buy the KTM 890 or would you look elsewhere? And if you own a KTM 890 Adventure let me know what how your experience has be...

I'm currently on a 22 890 I think about The possibility for electrical issues or cams none of these have shown up yet 12,000 miles . The grin Factor on this bike just blows my mind I can't believe what I can do on it it's just so well engineered to be a hooligan and to hit dirt and for that matter rail through the twisties even on knobbies. I'm just going to ride it out and that's it I love it

I have a 2023 890 Adventure R. Like has been previously mentioned, it’s a thoroughbred off-road. Amazing power, ideal weight distribution and great suspension. The brakes have saved me a few times already. I have had a couple issues with the TFL. The current one appears to be a cooling fan failure, but doesn’t affect performance. I may take the maintenance over and perform the work myself.

I’ve got the Pro. Thought I’d made a $13k mistake until I got my preload and clickers dialed-in. I absolutely love this bike so much now. I bought it after spending 7 days on the Husky/KTM RFR and yes, it lacks the refinement of the RFR, it’s plenty fast enough and even more comfortable. I actually like riding it more. I’m a similar weight / height BTW and had similar bucking and needed to lean way out over the bars in turns. It’s now amazing.

DUDES! Your first-person video skills are HORRIBLE. I wish I could have finished watching because I like your narration and other shots, but damn, dude! Your GoPro style shots are nauseating. Take it from a pro cinematographer, there are many things you can do to fix this. Please do your research and learn the skill. Your first person video is unwatchable. Otherwise, good content.

I have a 2019 ktm 790R since new, only 12 thousand miles on it but it has been very mechanically sound, never back to the dealer. There are small things like the hard starting issue, which I'm about to fix with a fuel X lite, for 200 bucks, but the power and suspension is just awesome. I could never go down to a lesser powered bike, it would just be boring. Some want extreme reliability but I want a bike that rips, both on the street and single track, to each their own, as long as you're having fun, stay safe.

Very beutiful video. It might be overpriced/underspecced for what it is but it's kind of the only thing in the class you can buy where i am. Like the CRF300L Ralley, kind of the same, a few upgrades and you have a long distance bike that can tackle any road.

just bought a 2018. hoping it is all good at 1000k miles. had full fmf powerbomb, 2 tooth up in rear and relatively clean. just changed oil, realized it has the 3x3mod after removing seat. Assuming possible carb work. had to loosen exhaust cause header was touching frame but I am so frickin paranoid something is wrong with this thing. Only thing left to do is figure out if "idle" is too low as it stalls at times and/or takes forever to need a no choke. Admittedly, this is the first time dealing with a carb outside chain saws and trimmers. I have less than 2 miles on it around my neighborhood till I get the title and register it. Pray for me yall.

I’m genuinely curious about the Tuareg’s reliability. They don’t sell as much so of course not as many people are reporting issues, I just saw a video of someone who reported scorched cams on his Tuareg. I’m actively researching for the Tuareg and the 890 as they cost the same in my country, so any bit of information would be appreciated.

I sold my DR650. Short explanation, I bought a Yamaha dual sport which is WAY lighter. Once I get my dirt and road skills up, then someday I'll get a heavier dual sport like a DR650.

  • @98luckyneon
    @98luckyneon 12 дней назад

When it comes to doing more “off road” riding the ktm spanks the dr everywhere. When it comes to dual sporting and reliability the dr wins but it is no comparison off road imo owning both. Trying different bikes if fun and all have pros / cons - don’t trust the keyboard warriors - try new things !

Just came back from a trip 5 riders ,4 days 700Km 350km on dirt in similar terrain to parts of your video.2 X Koves on the trip, they tracked incredibly well across sketchy terrain at speed and cornered great standing at speed very well also. These are the two most important things for an adventure bike. Both riders v happy.I wll sell my CRF300 with upgraded suspension as i will be able to go faster on the Kove and be less tired.I have a KTM 525 so i am able to judge the difference between the bikes. The Kove is an excellent machine.IMHO its a far better bike off road than a KTM690 which bounced along the track a fair bit

I have an 2021 890 R with around 44.000 km. Thereof 21.500 in a seven weeks solo trip (12-2023- 01-2024) around Chile/Argentina/Peru/Brasil. Never broke down, perfect on any type of gravel. If in doubt, gas it out. The bike gets more stable the faster it is ridden and the bike/suspension is really capable. It is a matter of trust and confidence in the bike and your own riding skills. (For the sake of clarity, I try not to ride above my skill level. I know that any high speed crash may be the last and even low speed accidents can be a painful experience) The main negative feature is the weight in comparison to my 2010 690 R. In technical sections, balance and momentum is everything. Crossing new river beds on Ruta 40 with ruts and loose wet gravel was my personal challenge. Proably would have worked better if done faster, but I just wasn't able to. If you ride solo and drop it, it is heavy, in my opinion. In such situation I rather had my 690. I'll work on my physical fitness, no blame on the 890. Or I will try to ride with a buddy. Overall the 890 R has proven to be capable and reliable. The only tool needed while traveling so far has been a tire plug. What more to expect from a real adventure bike.

I've dislocated my shoulder more times then I'd care to imagine was possible and the single most important trick I've learned to reset it in the field was taught to me a a much younger man by a doctor when I explained my remote lifestyle and adventures at the time... find a round object about the size of a baseball or softball "a balled fist works a treat I'd placed properly " place it as deep in the armpit as is allowed by the dislocation and slowly! Lever the arm over the object or fist well remaining as relaxed as possible key point! Tight things don't meve freely back in to place and alow the dislocation to reset 2 major tips are to relax as much as possible do not rush this painful procedure and take your time deeper the object "buddies fist" the better but don't move it it's a lever keep it still and firm tell everything pops back in to place

I am now the proud owner of a super hopped up 2008 DR650.(piston,cam,full FMF exhaust, full Cogent Suspension and every thing else) I have other bikes as well. It IS the one motorcycle I will never let go again. In the upcoming post apocalyptic world, I'm pretty sure It's the one motorcycle I can keep it going. I guess they do die. I've just not seen it. As others have said, that SOMETHING you'll start missing. You'll find it on a DR.

Just on the verge of buying my 3rd, after spending the last 2 weeks watching countless vids on other bikes that cost 3 times as much or more, I keep coming back to the DR650 for simplicity and just the fun factor. The adventure bike market is well and truly out of control and prices of bikes especially here in Australia are just over the top expensive. Even for a good low km DR650 expect to pay upwards of 8k (aus) insane. I just want a dual sport with 70/30 capability as well as proven reliability with no rider aids. It can only be the DR!!

Adventure bike territory weight? What are you talking about? This bike weighs wet 368lbs This is including over 8 gallons of fuel!!! There is not an adventure bike on this planet, which comes even close to that. The only other bike I could think of, is the KTM 640 Adventure with 389lbs, which followed the same formula as the Kove (Dirt bike with fairings and a huge fuel tank), but that was almost two decades ago. Adventure bikes nowadays weigh between 450lbs and 550lbs.

KTM is that hot crazy ex you keep going back to. So much fun, but there's a reason no one has wifed her up yet. I own 2 KTM's and am in that cycle of being ready to sell it when one of them is down and changing my mind after taking it out again after repairs. It also doesn't help that most of the issues are 'minor' and relatively affordable which adds to my tendency to not sell them,. The inconvenience is starting to wear on me, odds are another year, or two is all I'll put up with before trading them for something else.

I owned a dr400sm for 3 years, then sold it. I Have to say that it is a beautiful bike to look at. The bike has many positives, but the reasons I don’t own it now are the following: 1 the bike was too tall, I’m 5’10’’ and I was on my toes at a red light. 2. It was great at under 100 kmph, but even short trips on an expressway left me holding on for dear life over 120kmph…sure the bike can do it, but it is so tall that wind gusts or transport trucks caused so much turbulence. So, if you’re over 6 ft tall, and you’re looking to commute in the city or you love country roads, it’s a cool bike and this is hard to beat.

It did great holding 70mph as long as needed , with the only downside being the wind trying to push you around on open highways. It was a blast as well on the single track riding I did . Highly recommend this bike
